Isabel Kershner writes: “Israel has fought three wars in Gaza over the past decade and has invested heavily in combating the threat posed by rockets fired by Hamas and other militant groups, and from tunnels crossing under the border.” (NY Times “Israeli Military Kills 15 Palestinians in Confrontations on Gaza Border” March 30)
In the last of these three “wars,” Operation Protective Edge (2014), Israel killed 550 Gaza children whereas one Israeli child was killed, and Israel destroyed 18,000 Gaza homes whereas one Israeli home was destroyed. But Hamas posed a threat to Israel whereas Israel apparently posed no threat to Gaza.
