New York Times columnist Bret Stephens is an expert on Israel-Palestine. He ridicules political naifs seduced by Hamas propaganda (“Gaza’s Miseries Have Palestinian Authors”, 16 May 2015). He knows better: “Palestinian children as young as 7 were dispatched to try to breach the fence”? How does Stephens know this? His hyperlink confirms that “the Israeli army reported” it. Who needs more proof? Stephens comes up with a genial solution to Gaza’s travails: “If Palestinians want to build a worthy, proud and prosperous nation, they could do worse than try to learn from the one next door. That begins by forswearing forever their attempts to destroy it.” If only Gazans would forswear destroying Israel as Israel has forsworn destroying Gaza…
