HOW DOES THE PROPOSED VACCINE WORKS?

It is a mRNA vaccine. Normally genetic DNA gets transcribed into mRNA and mRNA get translated into protein. mRNA of the spike protein of COVID is the vaccine.

This vaccine (mRNA) is injected into the muscle and the muscle cells take it up and spike proteins are made and put on the surface of the muscle cell. The body immune system then recognizes this spike protein as foreign and makes antibodies against it. Thus, we develop an immunity.

How long this immunity lasts is not known. I had a patient who was infected in May and recovered fully but was reinfected in September. The mRNA is wrapped by a lipid/fat capsule that rapidly crosses the cell lipid membrane and gets into the muscle cells.

Foreign proteins can sometimes evoke allergic reactions so people who have severe allergies to specific ingredients in the vaccine are asked not to take this vaccine.

Theoretically COVID mRNA can get into the DNA of the cell and cause genetic mutations which can lead to cancer and other fatal diseases.  The mRNA can only get converted to DNA if there is an enzyme called reverse transcriptase in the cell. NO HUMAN has reverse transcriptase so this is virtually impossible. HIV has reverse transcriptase so theoretically one with HIV should not take this vaccine.

If this vaccine is successful than we will have a major breakthrough in science. For example, we will be able inject mRNA for insulin into Diabetics and the body will make insulin. It will also be used in many other diseases where major protein are deficient.

We do not have a vaccine for HIV because the surface protein keeps changing. It is not known, at least I don’t know, if the spike protein of COVID changes frequently. If it does then the vaccine will not work.
