Ongoing Israeli Offensive on Gaza:
162 Palestinians Killed, of Whom 137 Are Civilians, Including 34 Children and 28 Women, and 1,058 Others Wounded, Mostly Civilians, Including 332 Children and 212 Women;
209 Houses Targeted and Destroyedand Hundreds of Others Extensively Damaged
Israeli occupation forces have continued their brutal and immoral offensive on the Gaza Strip for the 7th consecutive day, and have continued the policy of collective punishment in disregard for the international law and humanitarian law, which ensure protection for civilians in times of war, and in violation of the principles of necessity, proportionality and distinction. Israeli forces have continued their aerial, ground and sea attacks throughout the Gaza Strip, causing more civilian casualties and damaging civilian facilities, including houses and mosques. Israeli forces attacked workers of municipalities who provide vital services to the civilian population. As result of these attacks, 3 workers have been killed and a 4th one has been wounded. Thousands of Palestinian civilians have been forced to leave their houses in the northern Gaza Strip following warnings by the Israeli forces to leave their houses as they would initiate military operations in these areas. They resorted to shelters established by UNRWA in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip.
From 10:00 on Sunday, 13 July 2014 to 10:00 on Monday, 14 July 2014, 6 Palestinians, 5 of whom are civilians including a woman, were killed. Additionally, 120 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were wounded – this number includes 52 children and 18 women. Israeli warplanes also targeted and destroyed 35 houses.
The latest developments since the press release issued by PCHR yesterday noon have been as follows:
The Northern Gaza Strip:
Israeli warplanes launched 64 airstrikes and Israeli tanks and gunboats fired dozens of shells targeting houses, agricultural plots and open areas. As a result of these attacks, a member of a Palestinian armed group was killed, and 55 Palestinians, including 30 children and 11 women, were wounded. Twelve houses were targeted, and 7 of them were destroyed.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
– At approximately 10:25 on Sunday, 13 July 2014, Israeli drones fired 3 missiles at a flat belonging to the Salah family in an apartment building in Sheikh Zayed housing project. The flat was destroyed and a number of nearby ones were damaged.
– At approximately 12:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a number of members of a Palestinian armed group, killing one of the, Qassem Talal Hamdan, 24.
– At approximately 13:50, an Israeli drone launched a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to ‘Atiya Abu Banat in Fad’ous area in Beit Lahia. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane bombarded and destroyed the house.
– At approximately 15:15, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Talal Jum’a al-Shnbari in Beit Hanoun. A few minutes later, Israeli warplanes bombarded and destroyed the house.
– At approximately 15:20, an Israeli drones fired a missile at a 5-storey house belonging to ‘Ata ‘Abdul Raziq al-Mana’ma in ‘Aamer Project in the west of Jabalya. The house was damaged.
– At approximately 20:45, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to ‘Eid Fahmi Tanboura in Beit Lahia. Half an hour later, an Israeli warplane bombarded and destroyed the house.
– At approximately 21:35, Israeli drones fired 3 missiles at a 4-storey house belonging to the al-Shalfouh family in Jabalya refugee camp. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane bombarded and destroyed it.
– At approximately 22:25, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Fareed Abu Rashed in al-Sikka Street in Jabalya. The house was damaged.
– At approximately 23:35, Israeli drones launched 3 missiles at a 2-storey house belonging to Basheer al-Tabatibi in the east of Jabalya. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane bombarded and destroyed it.
– At approximately 00:00 on Monday, 14 July 2014, Israeli warplanes bombarded a house belonging to Ismail Ghanem in al-Ghoboun area in Beit Lahia for the second time since the beginning of the current offensive.
– At approximately 00:25, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to the Hassouna family in Jabalya refugee camp. The house was damaged.
– At approximately 08:30, Israeli drones fired 3 missiles at a 2-storey house belonging to Mustafa ‘Assaliya in Jabalya. A few minute later, an Israeli warplane bombarded and destroyed it.
Gaza City:
Israeli warplanes launched 30 airstrikes and ground and sea shelling targeting houses, security sites, agricultural lands, open areas and a workshop. As a result of these attacks, 10 Palestinian civilians, including 6 children and 2 women, were wounded. A Palestinian civilian also died of a previous wound. Moreover, 8 houses were targeted and 5 of them were destroyed. Israeli warplanes bombarded an office of the Palestinian Ministry of Housing.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
– At approximately 10:30 on Sunday, 13 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 4-storey house belonging to the heirss of Rashad Sa’id Habeeb, in which 43 people live, in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City. The house was damaged.
– At approximately 16:00, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a 2-storey house belonging to Jameel Khalil al-Dahshan in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City. Later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house causing extensive damage to it.
– At approximately 19:20, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a 2-storey house belonging to Khalil Jameel Mannaa’ in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City. Later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 20:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Dr. Nasser Hashem al-Tatar, Director of Shifa Hospital, in al-Nasser Street in Gaza City. A few minutes later, Israeli drones fired 2 missiles at to nearby houses belonging to the al-Za’eem family, damaging them. Ten minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at al-Tatar’s house destroying it.
– At approximately 00:45 on Monday, 14 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to the sons of Rezeq Mohmmaed Rezeq, in which 70 people live. The house is comprised of 2 buildings. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house, destroying one building and extensively damaging the other one.
– Also at approximately 00:45, medical sources declared that Adham Mohammed ‘Abdul Fattah ‘Abdul ‘Aal, 29, died of wounds he had sustained on Sunday morning, 13 July 2014, when Israeli warplanes bombarded his family’s house.
– At approximately 01:00, Israeli warplanes bombarded and destroyed a blacksmith workshop belonging to the al-Bahtiti family in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City.
– At approximately 03:30, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a 3-storey house belonging to Jamal Hassouna Shamallakh, in which 17 people live, in Sheikh ‘Ejlin neighborhood in the southwest of Gaza City. Later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it. Three children were wounded.
– Also at approximately 03:30, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at the 8th floor of al-Narjis building, which serves as offices for the Ministry of Housing, in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in the south of Gaza City. The 8th floor was partially destroyed, and 4 residents of the building, including 2 women and a child, were wounded.
– At approximately 03:30, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a 3-storey house belonging to the family of Matar Mohammed ‘Abdu, in which 10 people live. Later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it. Five children were wounded.
– At the same time, Israeli warplanes bombarded Ansar security compound.
Israeli tanks and gunboats fired dozens of artillery shells at various areas in the east and south of Gaza City. A number of shells hit Gaza fishing harbor. As a result, a number of fishing boats were damaged, and one of them was completely burnt.
The Central Gaza Strip:
Israeli warplanes launched 29 airstrikes targeting houses, agricultural lands, open areas and a mosque. As a result of these attacks, an old man was killed, and 30 Palestinians, including 14 children and 3 women, were wounded. Ten houses and a mosque were also bombarded.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
– At approximately 09:15 on Sunday, 13 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Bassam Salem, in which 14 people live, in al-Maghzai refugee camp. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 11:52, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Ashraf ‘Adnan al-Khatib in al-Nussairat refugee camp. The house was extensively damaged.
– At approximately 12:15, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Khamis ‘Abdul Wahab al-Salhi in al-Nussairat refugee camp. The house was damaged and 3 Palestinian civilians were wounded.
– At approximately 13:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Mohammed Ahmed Abu Jahjouh in al-Nussairat refugee camp. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it together with a nearby house.
– At approximately 13:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Ahmed Mohammed al-Namrouti in al-Zawaida village. A few minute later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
– At approximately 19:20, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Mamoud Hassan Abu Saleem in Deor al-Balah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 22:20, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at an agricultural plot in Wadi al-Salqa village, east of Deir al-Balah. As a result, Mohammed Salem Brais, 79, when he was on his land.
– At approximately 22:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Mohammed Abdul Rahman Abu Muhaisen in al-Maghraqa village. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 00:00 on Monday, 14 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Khaled Ahmed Mesmeh in Deir al-Balah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 01:15, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Mo’in Hussein ‘Atwan in Deir al-Balah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house destroying it.
– At approximately 02:50, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Marwan Mohammed Abu Swaireh in al-Zawaida village. The third floor was damaged.
– At approximately 03:40, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at al-Nour Mosque in the west of Deir al-Balah. The mosque was destroyed.
Khan Yunis:
Israeli warplanes launched 31 airstrikes targeting houses, agricultural plots, open areas and sites of Palestinian armed groups in the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis. Israeli tanks and gunboats also fired dozens of shells at agricultural and open areas. As a result, 7 Palestinian civilians, including 3 children, were wounded. Israeli warplanes also bombarded3 houses and a building.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
– At approximately 11:20 on Sunday, 13 July 2014, Israeli warplanes launched 5 airstrikes on agricultural plots and open areas in al-Qarara, Ma’an and al-Zanna areas. A number of nearby houses were damaged.
– From 18:00 to 21:00, Israeli warplanes launched 7 airstrikes on agricultural plots and open areas in Ma’an and al-Manara areas and the vicinity of the European Gaza Hospital. A number of nearby houses were damaged.
– At approximately 18:25, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles in the vicinity of a house belonging to Ahmed Suleiman al-Astal in al-Mawasi area in the northeast of Khan Yunis. A few minutes later, Israeli warplanes bombarded and destroyed the house. A number of nearby greenhouses were damaged.
– At approximately 19:20, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a room near al-Majaida Mosque in al-Mawasi area in the west of Khan Yunis. As a result, 2 Palestinian civilians were wounded.
– At approximately 20:20, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a 4-storey building in the center of Khan Yunis. Israeli forces had phoned the owner of a restaurant under the building and ordered evacuation of the building. The attack damaged the 4th floor of the building, which belongs to the al-Atal family.
– At approximately 22:10, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at a house belonging to Ussama Khamis Abu ‘Anza in ‘Abassan village, east of Khan Yunis. The house was damaged.
