FROM SCHUMER TO LIEBERMAN

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman declared the other day, “There are no innocent people in the Gaza Strip.  Everyone’s connected to Hamas.” 

His statement even outraged the New York Times editorial board. (“Israel’s Violent Response to Nonviolent Protests,” 11 April 2018)

But Lieberman was just echoing Senator Charles Schumer of New York.  Back in 2010, Schumer told a meeting of Orthodox Jews, “To me, since the Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas,” the right strategy is “to strangle them economically, until they see that’s not the way to go.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q1w-pfphsk)

The only difference appears to be, Lieberman is a plainspoken hoodlum whereas Schumer pretends to be a liberal Democrat.
