In order to ensure peace and justice in the Middle East, it is necessary that Palestinians be afforded their universal human rights. The phrase “coming out” which originated in the LGBT community has been used in a variety of contexts to describe the self-disclosure of a person’s potentially shameful identity or beliefs. In the political climate of the United States, expressing sympathy with Palestinians can be the cause of this kind of stigma. We hope to change that on Princeton’s campus.

We are “coming out” for Palestine in a public affirmation of solidarity, expressing our commitment to the implementation of the following three actions:

1) Ending the occupation of the West Bank, including settlement building, forced
displacement, home demolitions, inequitable resource distribution, and limited freedom of movement;
2) Ending the blockade of Gaza;
3) Ensuring the right of return for Palestinian refugees, as stipulated in UN
Resolution 194.

We hope that our visibility will encourage others to join the fight for Palestinians’ freedom.

طلبة جامعة “برينستون” الاميركية يطلقون حملة مناصرة لفلسطين

برينستون – دوت كوم – أطلق عشرات الطلبة في جامعة “برينستون” الأمريكية العريقة مؤخراً حملة دعم لفلسطين وحقوق الشعب الفلسطيني، والمطالبة بإنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.

وبدأ عشرات الطلبة أواخر الأسبوع الماضي حملتهم بإطلاق مقطع فيديو يتضمن عدداً من المشاركين منهم من جنسيات وأعراق مختلفة للتعبير عن تضامنهم مع القضية الفلسطينية، والمطالبة بإحقاق السلام والعدالة في الشرق الأوسط.

ورأوا أن هذا السلام لن يتحقق إلا إذا حصل الفلسطينيون على حقوقهم، مطلقين على حملتهم عنوان “أنا أعلي صوتي من أجل فلسطين”، وأوضحوا أن التضامن مع الشعب الفلسطيني يواجه كثيراً من التشويه والمفاهيم الخاطئة في الولايات المتحدة.

وتمنوا أن تنعكس حملتهم وأجواءها على الأوضاع في جامعتهم وتغيير الصورة الماثلة حول القضية، عبر التأكيد الصريح والواضح على دعمهم لفلسطين والتعبير عن التزامهم بجملة من القضايا في هذا الصدد.

وذكر الطلبة أن مطالبهم تتمثل في إنهاء الاحتلال في الضفة ووقف التوسع الاستيطاني، والتشريد وهدم المنازل ونهب الثروات، فضلاً عن القيود المستمرة على الحركة.

وطالبوا بإنهاء الحصار الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة، وأخيراً شددوا على حق العودة للاجئين الفلسطينيين، حسبما أورد قرار الأمم المتحدة رقم 194. وحثوا زملاءهم على الانضمام إليهم في سبيل النظام من أجل حرية الشعب الفلسطيني.
